When I was pregnant with Mia, Matt and I decided to try and reduce our waste as much as possible. We do cloth diapers and wanted to do reusable wipes as well.
Over time we’ve realized it was easier for us to have disposable wipes in the diaper bag for outings but when we’re at home we use reusables.
They are insanely easy to make and keep at home. We have a special set of cloths set aside for bum wipes and they are not used for any other purpose. [Read more…]
Since Mia was born we decided that I would be a stay at home mom for a year or two. My job is contract work so I didn’t get maternity leave so we were a single income family of three. Moving provinces was also not cheap so we have had to be extra frugal.
Grocery shopping can be overwhelming with kids and since we started feeding Mia solids it took some trial and error to find something that worked for us.

When Mia was a newbie she hated the bath. She would scream so loud for so long every single time! She has the lungs of Mariah Carey and can scream at a higher octave then I’ve ever heard before. Hearing her screams made me insane so it was quite a stressful time trying to bath her. We tried so many different suggestions and It took two months to find a solution that literally fixed everything…instantly. [Read more…]
As I mentioned in the post last week Matt and I did 2012 without plastic. Ever since we’ve been making our own cleaning recipes.
This became more important in our eyes when I was pregnant as well as after Mia was born. I was always so worried about using chemicals on the floor where she would be crawling about or accidentally ingesting them.
After quite a long pause I’m finally ready to get back to Simply Sarah. Life got a bit crazy there for a while with getting married, having a baby and moving to a different province. The biggest change for me was actually becoming a mom. I didn’t expect to loose myself after having Mia. To be honest, I’m still struggling.
